The Killers concert!!! 26.1.07

[pasted from myspace =) ]

So after getting ready, Mum and I began our drive to one of the best nights of my life, seeing my favourite band of nearly 3 years live at the Sydney Hordern pavilion.

While we were in the car I saw a white van with the number plate BRYMAR. I was like mum look its bob (because Bob's so cool he has his own car). I stared hopefully at the man in the van and he stuck his tongue out at me. It wasn't Bob, haha.

After a few wrong turns, missed street signs and laughter at the "flower power" shop we arrived a fox studios. I was way excited. We looked at a map and found the Hordern Pavilion. It was around 3:30 and about 150 kids were already lined up. And sound check was going on so I ran over to the gates and listened to them play a song I had never heard and the song Sam's Town. Brandon also talked about the volume and stuff. I started to feel dizzy I was so excited. After listening for a while I parked myself in the line, on which the gravel was extremely hot, while mum got dinner.

Half an hour later a lot of people began to come, and lucky us, we got a real live episode of Laguna Beach with the people behind us. That was very irritating. I looked around and am pretty sure I was the only person from Ulladulla there.

At 7ish the gates opened and we went in (with our camera too!). Already A LOT of people where drunk and surprisingly there was a lot older people than I expected. Mum and I got merch pretty quickly which set me back $90 and then we went outside before the support band (Starky) came on. There we saw Kurt and his friends. We said hi and talked for a bit before I left and we went in. Mum decided to sit in the seating area. There weren't many kids standing yet, so I went to the right hand side of the stage and slowly morphed closer and more to the centre.  Still it wasn't so crowded so I could move a bit. There was alcohol everywhere, and I managed to step in a cup of bear that went all up my pants. After a while Starky came out. The crowd got bigger and bigger. They played very well, some songs went off in the mosh. I certainly liked them although a lot of people didn't. I also learnt that whenever a man or someone older ( and there was people there in the mosh who looked around 50) than me pushed through to get closer to the stage I would follow really close to them, pretending I was with them. That got me forward a lot.

At the end of Starky I was about 8/9 people from the center right hand side of the stage which I was pretty comfortable at. Starky finished up and there equipment was taken off the stage and replaced with the killers instruments and surprising  a lot of props such as lots of flowers, fairy lights, a black bird and bones. It looked pretty mad!

At that point I was feeling very dizzy, and was considering going back to mum but I didn't want to lose my spot, so instead I asked some girls if they had any water. Luckily they were very nice and gave me the rest of their bottle, which I put all over my face to cool me down. I decided to stay.

Around 30 minutes later, the lights turned off, The Killers came on, and the screaming began. They all looked extremely cute. The opening notes to Sams town played out of Brandon's synth and the concert began. Dave was on the far right side, and Mark was right in front of me. Brandon moved around the stage well, and I was around 20 metres from him and Mark.  It was so surreal, because it was finally happening after I had waited so long. The first song that REALLY went off in the mosh pit was Somebody Told Me. It was crazy! We all just started jumping up and down and haha I did the foot-tap like the music-video-watching-nerd that I am. But I was seriously into it, not caring what people thought. Brandon didn't talk much, but it was alright. I did A LOT of weirdo moves in "Why Do I Keep Counting". They performed that song so well. I also randomly yelled out Marcus and Ronald haha.

The set list was:

Sam's Town - <333
Enterlude – sing a long. Brandon was amazing on the piano.
When you were young
Somebody told me- that.was.crazy
Smile like you mean it – the kids I was moshing with and I sang the synth parts and sounded utterly retarded but we didn't care.
Bones- weird dance moves I should review.

Bling- wow.
Read my mind – amazing.

Jenny was a friend of mine-  one of my favourites of the night
Uncle Johnny- Brandon was like "can we put all the lights on Dave', and it was really quite because he hadn't began playing yet, and I knew people were  a bit confused so I screamed out Johnny and people got it and he started playing quickly after that

Why do i keep counting  - beautiful. hand movements yo.
Mr Brightside – MOSH sing along crazy. oh and did I note a small branbot?

When they left we all started singing "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" trying to get an encore anddd….

My List - amazing
For Reasons Unknown- Love...
All these things I've done – AHHH! My favourite Killers song ever. And they played it. I think I may have shed a singular tear at the start of it (or a few. Brandon said "let me heard those Australian voices' before I got soul but I'm not a soldier began. it was magical.
Exitlude – yayayyayyayayyayayaya.

At the end Ronnie stood in the centre of the stage and showed off his Australian tee shirt.

So Afterwards I grabbed a coke (my love) and ran to the gates where the bus/cars where. This chick started talking to me really excitedly and I had no idea who she was. Her friend gave me a leaf from the set.  There weren't many people waiting (30ish), but when the killers were leaving Brandon came out and everyone was paying attention to him. Meanwhile Dave discreetly got into the car so I started waving like a crazy person, and he waved back. After everyone was like "who were you waving to?" since no one had seen him get in. Unfortunately they didn't sign anything, but it didn't matter.

Afterwards, I was extremely hyper and we went to get 'krispy crème' donuts where I made short films about the drug dealing pimps in the car park. Best 1/2 of a birthday present ever. One of the best nighta of my life.

My Chemical Romance concert next day =]

xoep.
